Tucked in the heart of Aurora, Illinois, Marmion Abbey stands as a beacon of Benedictine tradition and spiritual exploration. Named in honor of Blessed Columba Marmion OSB, renowned for his sanctity of life and spiritual writings, the Abbey traces its roots back to the early 20th century when the Benedictine monks of St. Meinrad Abbey were invited to establish Fox Valley Catholic High School for Boys.

A Rich History of Vocation

Since its inception, Marmion Abbey has been deeply committed to the education and spiritual formation of young men, exemplifying the Benedictine values of hospitality, prayer, and obedience. Elevation to Independent Abbey

In a historic moment on March 21, 1947, Marmion Abbey was elevated from a dependent priory of St. Meinrad to an independent abbey. This pivotal transition marked the beginning of a new chapter in the Abbey's journey, solidifying its mission to serve the local community and beyond.
