About Us

We Franciscans owe our inspiration to Francesco di Bernardone, an affluent young merchant from the Italian town of Assisi, who in 1206 renounced his wealth and social status in favor of a life dedicated to God and the least of God’s people.

The US Franciscans represent a fraternity of Franciscan friars dedicated to living out the Gospel through service, prayer, and community. Inspired by St. Francis of Assisi, they serve the poor and marginalized across the United States, Cuba, Puerto Rico, and Jamaica.

Ministry Work
The friars engage in various ministries, including education, healthcare, pastoral care, and social justice advocacy. They work in schools, universities, hospitals, prisons, and parishes, providing spiritual and practical support. They also promote environmental stewardship and engage in community outreach programs.

Daily Life and Mission
Daily life for the US Franciscans revolves around communal prayer, personal reflection, and active ministry. The friars gather for the Liturgy of the Hours, daily Mass, and other communal prayers.
